Beginning and Ending Sounds in Short Vowel Words

If your child has learned the Initial Sounds of the letters, as demonstrated by Mr. Joel in this lesson https://www.mapletreemontessori.com/online-lessons/beginning-sounds-all-lessons-red-yellow-green-orange-blue/ then they are ready to try some Beginning Sound works.

Here are some Beginning Sound works to print and use.

When you are doing sound works, be sure to enunciate with an emphasis on the sound to call attention to the placement of the sound in the word.

After Beginning Sounds comes Ending Sounds.

I hope that you enjoy these activities. You can also recreate similar activities with letters and objects at home. Remember to use lower case letters!

Always let your child determine the amount of time to be spent on “work”. These lessons are meant to be an enjoyable part of your child’s day along with helping around the house (Practical Life), art, stories, outside time, cuddling and down time. Your child is always learning!
